Warmest wishes

Dear Ineke and Benjamin,

I feel honored to have shared your wonderful space, it is an extension of your creativity and warmth. I truly can not wait to return and I intend to tell as many people as I can about the restorative nature of the place. I needed this break. Thank you both so much. Until next time.

As soon as we got here I realised my mistake. We should have booked for more than 1 night. The children are asking (telling) me that we have to stay longer the next time we come. I loved being outside by the open fire and listening to the soft rain on the tin roof. Thank you for such a beautiful and unique experience.

Thank you Ineke for your relaxed, lovely hospitality.

The bird song, the tranquility, bbq’s, walks, stories, the beautiful house/barn. We found it so stimulating. Thank you for sharing your stories and spirituality and showing us the studio. As we sat on the swing, we could watch the birds flying in and out to their nest to feed their young. We saw deer, a hare, heard and saw the cuckoo – and the Firebrigades!
The forest fires over towards Lough Easky.

Three generations stayed here this weekend with Lena only 6 months old and it all worked well. A great place to bring walking shoes and board games.

Ineka and Benjamin,

Despite the ‘extreme weather’ I’ve had a wonderful time! This is a lovely, isolated place and was also a fascinating ….. into book binding and restoration. I will devotedly recommend to friends and family.

Ineke and Benjamin,

Thank you for letting recharge our souls here for the night. Also, thanks for the clogs, they were a snug fit but were perfect for Irish dancing on the upstairs hardwood floor.

Love and peace profound

Dear Ineke and Benjamin

and beautiful Bella and the cats,

This was our second stay at Bed in Barn and we are certain it won’t be our last.
We will carry the peaceful energy and wilderness spirit back into our busy lives; uplifted by you kindness and inspired by your creativity and originality.
What a special magic you have created here on the mountains, so generously shared with all who are lucky enough to visit you.

Dear Ineke and Benjamin,

Thank you so much for our stay at Bed in Barn!
We got married 3 days ago up in Donegal and had the most amazing weekend – but after all that partying we needed this pure bliss and relaxation in beautiful nature. It was perfect! We lit the fire and shared a bottle of red and chat over the past few days stories and tales.
Bed in Barn was the dream spot for the first night of our honeymoon.

We will always remember it.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful barn with us! What a wonderful introduction to a beautiful country! We loved visiting the bindery and getting to know you a bit. We appreciate all of your sight-seeing suggestions – all were amazing.

Bat in Barn

Nature is slowly retreating, the lush greens of spring and summer are gradually replaced by the ambers of autumn. Mists in the morning reluctantly make way for the sun and when it is there it still warms the day as if it was summer but in the evening the cool sets in quickly and the mists are back to roam the nocturnal lands.

In the dying hours of the day bats take it to the skies to feed on insects that, like them, shy away from the daylight. Once more they their rounds in the enveloping twilight, but their prey has become less abundant and the time has come for them to wrap up for the winter.

Soon the storms will be out, shaking off the last leaves of summer. The rains from the Atlantic will swipe across the mountains and for the bats to find a dry and sheltered place to hibernate for the winter is essential to make it into the new year.P1010773 crop

One of them found what it thought to be ‘the perfect place for the winter’ and managed to get into the Barn only to find himself lost as this barn is now occupied by human guests. A close encounter with nature in a sleepless night for bat and man.

The next day we found batman on one of the beds and took him out into the woodshed. We left him there, somewhere high and dry.

“You may stay there for the winter, little man.”

That evening he was gone, taking it to the skies again, flying over nocturnal lands, finding himself a place somewhere…

I enjoyed staying here during my fiddle course.

I enjoyed staying here during my fiddle course at the South Sligo Summer school. Thanks very much for the friendly, warm reception and for your presence at the final concert!.  The bed slept very well and the rainshower was very good. A place to remember and to return to. Who knows. All the best with the B i B. And a good summer, long live the Irish Trad Music sessions, Fhleadh Gheoil..

Ineke en Ben,

Een verrassend mooie plek Masshill and Massrock.
